June 6: JJ Bola – Keeping Congo Alive – From the Motherland to Europe

Congolive engages JJ Bola, London-based poet, educator, and speaker in a wide-ranging discussion on culture, history, politics and the Congolese Diaspora in the UK. Much of Bola’s work focuses on his origins in the DR Congo and experiences of migration and otherness-but also of hope, and humanity. “What is most striking about JJ Bola is his ability to express through poetry the injustices that mar our world today.”

Bio

JJ Bola is a Kinshasa born, London raised writer & poet, educator and speaker. London and UK based, performed at shows and festivals such as Tongue Fu, Vocals & Verses, Chill Pill, Ventnor Fringe, as well as SOAS University and University of Oxford. And a special TV appearance on the London Live show.
JJ Bola has successfully published two books of poetry: Elevate and Daughter of the Sun. He is currently publishing another work called WORD, due to launch on June 18. JJ Bola’s writing highlights his origins, the DR Congo, and experiences of migration and otherness, but also of hope, and humanity- relating and telling a story that reaches many people.
